Eight ounces is sludge. Sixteen is a sip you never finish. The locker-room default, and when a formula wants more.

The label already told you

Most tubs print 8 to 12 ounces. That is not decoration. The serving, the flavor, and the way citrulline actually goes down were tested in that range.

Start at 10 ounces. That is the locker-room default: enough to dissolve the scoop, not so much you are still sipping at the second set.

Too little is a dry scoop with extra steps

Six ounces of a high-stim scoop is paste. It sits in the shaker, coats your throat, and you still inhale powder at the bottom of the bottle.

If you have to chew the last sip, add water. The ranking desk would rather you finish a slightly thinner mix than cough a clump.

Too much waters down the timing

Sixteen ounces of a 350mg formula is a drink you nurse. You miss the 20-to-30 minute window because you are still carrying the shaker into set three.

Flavor also falls apart when you drown it. If the mix is already sweet, extra water makes it taste like someone rinsed the tub.

When to break the default

Glycerol and thick pump formulas can take 12 ounces so they do not turn into gel. Extreme stim is the opposite problem: keep it closer to 10 so you actually drink the serving before the clock runs out.

In conclusion

Ten ounces is the amount that works for most scoops. Less turns into paste. More turns into a drink you never finish.

Start there, then add a little water if the mix is thick. The goal is to drink the serving before the workout starts.
